reebuild receives 3 million euros for the digitization of the construction industry

reebuild GmbH develops software that allows construction companies and project developers to audit invoices, manage costs, and track materials. Every incoming document—whether a PDF, photo, scan, or e-invoice—is read line-by-line using artificial intelligence and automatically reconciled with delivery notes and purchase orders. Today, reebuild processes over 530 million euros in invoice volume for more than 120 companies in Austria and Germany across more than 8,200 construction sites and projects; over 345,000 documents have now passed through the platform. Austrian clients include Pittel+Brausewetter, 3SI Immogroup, Schöll Bau, and Obenauf.
A massive industry with a lot of manual work
The construction sector in Austria comprises around 44,000 companies with more than 300,000 employees. At the same time, many businesses still manage a large portion of their cost administration and control—especially between operational departments—manually in Excel spreadsheets and paper folders. Invoices are reconciled by hand against contract terms or delivery notes. Approvals take too long and lack transparency, and early payment discounts are often missed. Project costs are buried in outdated spreadsheets, meaning strategic decisions are made based on obsolete information. Given the rising risks in financing, energy, and materials, margins can shrink quickly, leading to real financial losses.
Added to this is a generational shift in many companies: with the next generation at the helm, there is a growing expectation that cost tracking and transparency should be handled digitally, just as they are in everyday private life. Consequently, the demand for software that meets these standards is rising.
Software from Vienna, developed with local talent
reebuild is developed in Vienna, using local talent rather than outsourced development teams. The company consciously relies on European technology: the software is GDPR-compliant, hosted in Germany, and financed by European investors. reebuild has also benefited from the local funding landscape during its development: both the Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) support Austrian companies like reebuild in building internationally competitive software from Vienna. For the company, this is proof that top-tier software "Made in Austria" can hold its own on the international stage.
"Top-tier software doesn't have to come from Silicon Valley. We are developing reebuild in Vienna, with local talent, and are now bringing it to other countries," says Alexander Kornell, CEO and founder of reebuild.
After about four and a half years on the market, reebuild is established in Austria and Germany and is now expanding into further European countries, where development partnerships are already showing initial success.
Built with extreme practical focus
"We know the industry's problems firsthand and develop reebuild in close collaboration with our customers, keeping it extremely practical," says Alexander Kornell. "The software that many construction companies and project developers still use today has barely evolved in decades and has failed to keep pace with rising demands. We are convinced that we can shake up this market with a team that combines construction and technology expertise. Not with just another tool, but with a solution that truly understands how construction sites and projects are handled commercially."
This approach is based on personal experience: Alexander Kornell (CEO) and Matteo Cimadom (CRO) are deeply rooted in the construction industry through their family businesses. Together with Luca Papay (CTO) and Nicolaus Lederer (COO), they bring years of practical experience in construction and real estate, as well as in AI research and development.

Less effort, higher margins
For construction companies, the effect is seen directly in their margins: processing an invoice takes about three minutes instead of over twenty, the time from invoice receipt to approval is reduced from five days to one and a half, and according to customer feedback, procurement costs can be reduced by up to 20 percent. In an industry where margins are typically in the single-digit percentage range, this makes all the difference. More than 2,350 people work with the software daily, from foremen on the construction site to executive management.
In the long term, reebuild aims to reduce administrative effort in the construction industry to zero: software that handles routine tasks like auditing and reconciliation independently, while the people in the company make the decisions.
Investors see great potential in a poorly digitized industry
Wouter Goossens, Partner at Fortino Ventures, says: "We are convinced that now is the right time for construction companies and project developers to digitize and automate their back-office processes with software and AI. reebuild is the right team to implement this, not least because the founding team is rooted in the construction industry through their families."
With the Hansmann Family Office, an Austrian investor also remains on board. "We are very pleased with how Alexander and the team have developed, and we look forward to supporting them on their continued journey," says Andrei Podlesnyi, Investment Manager at the Hansmann Family Office. "Over the past few years, reebuild has proven that growth and a close connection to customers are not mutually exclusive."
